Chiswick and Brentford East NPT update |
Hello once again, it is good to see that we are still getting plenty of sign ups on Met Engage. Please do encourage any neighbours or community groups to continue to sign up. As always we have been busy targeting crime across the Wards and focusing on our priorities. As part of our shoplifting blitz we targeted two of Chiswick’s most prolific offenders who most of the shops even know them by name due to their persistent thefts. We worked with staff from multiple shops as well as utilising a new retail crime intelligence system ‘Auror’ to build cases against both- Max HOLT 50 years old of no fixed abode- We were able to convict for 16 shoplifting offences and common assault. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and the court granted a 7 year Criminal Behaviour Order on him which we applied for. Kelly MOORE 38 years old of no fixed abode- We were able to get her convicted for 4 shoplifting offences for which she was given time served in custody but also recalled to prison to serve a previous sentence. We also applied for a CBO on her which was granted for a period of 5 years. Both of the CBOs include conditions such as not entering retail premises that they are banned from, not wearing hats/hoods/face coverings in shops and to have a receipt for any sealed retail goods in their possession. Most importantly for us, both have conditions not to enter Chiswick other than travelling through on transport without alighting. This means that if either of them break any conditions including setting foot in Chiswick for the period of their CBO’s they can be immediately arrested and presented to a court. Theses are excellent results for us and particularly for the retailers in Chiswick who have had to endure their persistent offending for many years. If anyone sees either of them in Chiswick please report to Police. To further tackle retail crime we also conducted a Warrant at an address where it is suspected that stolen goods from the High Road are sold. Last year a female at the address was convicted of handling stolen goods and given a community order. This time we recovered around £3000 of suspected stolen property from the address, the occupant remains under investigation and we will work with the council to address ongoing issues there. We also conducted a Warrant at an address on Riverside linked to County Lines drug dealing across Chiswick and surrounding areas. At the address a quantity of suspected Class A drugs as well as weapons were recovered and three persons within the address were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They have been bailed whilst investigations continue. We have also been working to deal with a very problematic male who causes lots of issues on the High Road, he also commits offences across Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond. Having been bailed by the court for commercial burglaries and other offences he then committed another commercial burglary in Chiswick. We quickly identified him, gathered evidence and arrested him. He has been charged and sent to court where we are also applying for Criminal Behaviour Order. On Brentford East, ward officers are working to identify suspects linked to commercial burglaries and parcel thefts by reviewing CCTV. Also a suspect was arrested for possession of a ‘Rambo’ style knife and possession of Class A and B drugs, he was processed and charged to court where he received a 19 week suspended sentence, we will be monitoring the individual and if he continues to offend he be quickly taken back to court.
Many thanks
Sgt O'Donnell 164WA
